In the UAE, the Dubai Exiles Under 15’s proudly wore orange embellished team kits whilst taking part in a UK tournament. The Aggreko sponsored team travelled across the UK, competing against teams of similar ages and abilities, as well as looking to develop their skills through games with more experienced teams. Aggreko is also a regular sponsor for children’s rugby coaching sessions in Dubai, which aim to encourage more children to enjoy the game, whether as a serious sport or as a hobby.

As well as supporting the game on the ground, Aggreko is also involved with the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation (CNCF), helping underprivileged children in Vietnam and Mongolia. CNCF’s rugby tour comes to Dubai every year and Aggreko’s CNCF Veterans team can be seen taking to the pitch and drumming up support throughout the event, as well as taking time to mix with guests at the Aggreko sponsored Gala Dinner.

With recent expansion in South Africa during the past few years, Aggreko was keen to make an investment in the region’s most popular sport. It joined forces with the South African Rugby Legends Association (SARLA), which aims to promote grass roots and Club rugby. SARLA is about bringing people together and helping them to develop their sporting skills, as well as teaching them about health, wealth and social issues. Aggreko felt so strongly about SARLA’s work that is also showed its support for the Iqhawe (meaning champion or hero) campaign, devised as a social development programme for children. The programme takes the shape of a tournament, with around 5,000 children from schools not traditionally associated with rugby. Through local tournaments the children will be whittled down to just 40, and these will be enrolled in an eight-month programme to educate them on aids and drug awareness, social skills and integration.

Aggreko has also become heavily involved in professional rugby, and has been the proud sponsor and supplier to the infamous Emirates Airlines Dubai Rugby Sevens for 11 consecutive years. It has consistently been Aggreko power that has been used for consumer and broadcast areas, as well a cooling package to chill the corporate pavilions; however, what Aggreko is possibly more well known for during the Sevens is the cheerleaders: Aggreko Dynamos are regular fan favourites.

Uninterrupted coverage meant the need for reliable stand by power, which was supplied by Aggreko to the 11 match sites.
